Student voice and Inquiry at St Anthony’s

Student voice and Inquiry at St Anthony’s - Nothing about them without them!

Student Voice underpins every aspect of learning at St Anthony's. Student leaders are leaders of policy, designing learning for teachers and their peers, leading peer coaching and ensuring that what matters to students such as being sun smart and healthy eating is a message that is delivered by students for students. Our students are coached to lead many important days such as ANZAC Day, World Teachers' Day, Easter Bonnet Parade, Footy Day, coordinating volunteering and fund raising for many organisations we support, the Kinder visit program and also peer tutoring students in other schools to upskill them with many skills we have to share.

Through an inquiry based approach to learning our students’ thinking is scaffolded towards uncovering their own big questions around a big concept and their curiosity about the world around them is invited into the conversation. Inquiry supports all of the elements of futures education because it encourages connection, co-operation, and collaboration by allowing students to pose and solve problems together. It is authentic and shared.

The meaning of "knowing" has shifted from being able to remember and repeat information to being able to find and use it.
