Dear Parents and Guardians
TERM 2 - ALL STUDENTS WHO CAN LEARN FROM HOME, MUST LEARN FROM HOME
To increase physical distancing across the population and slow the spread of coronavirus
(COVID-19), children in Victorian Catholic schools will move to remote and flexible learning and
care at the commencement of Term 2 in accordance to the advice from the Chief Health officer
and as announced by Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for the Coordination of Education
and Training – COVID-19, James Merlino. The Chief Health Officer has advised that these arrangements should remain in place for the duration of Term 2 and will then be reviewed.
THIS MEANS THAT FROM THE START OF Term 2 all students who can learn from home, must learn at home.
The school will provide supervision for children on days when they are not able to be supervised
at home and no other arrangements can be made.
St Anthony’s Primary School will be providing all learning remotely from Wednesday April 15th. Children will need a device to access remote learning. The staff have planned to deliver each child’s program using a combination of Google Classroom, Zoom, Dojo and a paper pack distributed at the end of Term 1. Other learning resources will be used that students are already familiar with such as Purple Mash, Studyladder, Reading Eggs and Epic Reading.
The teachers will be available to support the learning of children during school hours. The weekly learning timetable will be shared and the daily program communicated every morning. Children who need to share a device at home may access the learning at an alternative time if that suits family organisation. Alternatively, you will be able to borrow a chromebook from school. We are awaiting advice from CEM on the provision of internet dongles and sim cards to access online learning.
Children will need to check in with a teacher each day. We ask parents whenever possible that your child has a device to participate in as many of the sessions offered each day. It is important to understand that students will receive the same learning program at home, as those who attend school. At this stage it is likely that most teachers will be teaching remotely from home, while a very limited number of leaders, teachers and support staff will be onsite Monday to Friday, 8:50AM - 3:20PM.
Parents and Guardians must complete the attached survey by Friday April 10th 2020, so that the school can commence planning to meet the needs of families that have both parents at work and can make no alternative arrangements for learning at home. In addition, so we can understand and support the varying access that may exist to digital technology.
This is a difficult time as we comply with the restrictions necessary for the health and wellbeing of our community.
If your family or your child requires extra support, please contact me via email: email@example.com Please know that St Anthony’s staff are here to
support your family during this difficult time.
